It took Cyrano a few weeks to finish up his play, to make up his mind on the casting. The results of the readings are finally posted one morning on the Mansion's billboard, in his clean, cold, intellectual yet flamboyant penmanship.

Alphonse spots the notice only after coming in from practice by the lake. He's still surprised about being picked as stage manager and hopes he can live up to it.

Well, he'll try. He does wonder who Utena and Malcolm are though...

Open to anybody, but looking for other stage hands and such.

He won't have long to wonder who Malcolm is, or at least be approached by a fellow who'll answer to that name. A tall fellow clad in a reddish brown shirt and close-fitting khaki riding trousers approaches, eying the cast listing. "Huh, looks like I made the cut," he says, with a note of relief.

Al overhears this and turns to the man. "Really? Which part did you get?"

[mal_badinlatin]

"Stage hand," he says. "What I signed up for. Ain't got the memory t' remember lines, 'less they got a part f'r a mute."

[aru_iru]

"Oh! Then you must be..." He glances at the sheet again. "Malcolm Reynolds?" As he doesn't look much like a 'Utena'.

[mal_badinlatin]

"Yep, I'm Mal," he says, rather surprised that he has to look *up* at Al. And even more surprised that there's a kid's voice coming from inside that suit of armor. "Y'must be Alphonse Elric."

[aru_iru]

"That's right!" He's so pleased to actually meet someone he'll be working with. Alphonse offers a bit of a bow. "You can call me Al if you'd like. It's nice to meet you sir!"

[mal_badinlatin]

"Mal an' Al: sounds like a comedy act," he says, dryly. "Nice meetin' y', too. Take it yer takin' care a' the scenery changes an' what-all. First time I've done anythin' like this, better warn y'."

The lights that make up Al's lights flicker in a blink. "It ... it rather does, doesn't it?" He thought it was kind of funny anyway, but he's a kid so...

"Don't worry about not knowing anything. I've got a very good How To manual with me and I'm really just learning all of this as well. The actual stage base won't be hard to put up, but the special effects and things might be a bit more tricky..."

[mal_badinlatin]

"Got any wizards here who'd be able t' put a lil' magic into th' stage magic?" he asks, with a smirk, though he's still being fairly serious.

[aru_iru]

"Well, so far it's just you and Utena and myself...," Al says.

[mal_badinlatin]

"Know a gal who might help out. Bit of a tough gal, but strong," he says.

[aru_iru]

"Really? That would be wonderful. We're going to need a lot of hands I think before we're through."

[mal_badinlatin]

"Sounds like it might be quite a spectacle. Might need as many hands we can get," he says, looking back to the cast list.

[aru_iru]

Al nodded. "I'm sure we will, though I'll be perfectly happy with only a few as long as they're willing and able."

"That's all that matters, don't it? That y' choose t' take on a job," he says.
