Despite the cold, Caranthir can be found outside, sharpening his sword, predictably.

He's calm, focused, making quiet sounds to himself as he does this simple but soothing work.

Very predictably, and that may be how Cele finds him. He raises a hand in greeting as he approaches, smiling a little. "Hello, Uncle."

Caranthir looks up, finds a smile for his nephew. "Tyelpe," he says, and stands, puts the sword away, offers an arm clasp.

"It's good to see you, Nephew."

And egad, but he looks well. It's a sight for sore eyes.

Cele grips his arm in return, nearly grinning. "It is good to see you as well, Uncle. I have news." Good news, from the way his grin widens.

Okay, that makes Caranthir smile right back, and he's in fact holding on to the nephew. The grin forces the large scar on his face to crease a little - it's probably creepy.

"Is that so? Do share - good news are always welcome here."

Cele doesn't try to pull away, Cara's hold is probably the only thing keeping him from bouncing. "Lydia has agreed to marry me," he says, unable hold back his excitement and not wanting to anyway.

Blink. "-- The va--- well, congratulations," Caranthir manages to sputter. He smiles a little, though. "- you look so happy, mind you don't fart a canary, nephew."

The dry humor is an excellent sign, actually.

Cele laughs at that and leans forward to give Cara a hug. "Thank you, uncle." Thank you for being happier for him than you are wary of the vampire.

He's really making an effort, but your father insulted his woman, actually, Cele, and so Caranthir might be a bit more amenable to stepping in your shoes.

He hugs back, and it's a bear hug, an uncle hug. "-- You're welcome, Tyelpe." He seems to have a Question, though.

Yeah, his father's good at that kind of thing. And Cele likes uncle hugs. But he notices the Question. "You look like you want to ask something."

"It's probably silly," Caranthir says, waving it off. "Leave it, boy. I'm happy for you."

"If you're certain," he says with a slight concerned frown. He'd rather know if it's something he can do anything about, but if Cara really doesn't want to talk about it he won't press.

What Caranthir was going to ask about was the issue of procreation - but then he decided that since he doesn't want any himself, he's poorly placed to bring it up.

"Nothing important," he insists. Pause. "Did you tell your father yet?"

He winces a little and nods. "Yes. He is...not pleased. And I haven't seen grandfather yet." That'll be lots of fun, he's sure.

Caranthir runs a hand in his hair. "Your grandmother?"

He smiles a little, that was a relief to him. "Insists on planning the wedding."
