[Joint post] A long time coming

It's taken them a bit to come out with the news - it's made them both exceedingly happy, but it was no secret to anyone that not everyone concerned would be pleased for them.

Nonetheless, no-one is family-oriented like a Feanorian, and Pandora herself could not keep it to herself any longer. This, in her case, was made more raw by the fact that the ( Read more... )

It wouldn't be right to do this without the grandmother. And she is awake tonight, and downstairs, making herself and most likely her husband some tea. She will be...delighted.

Oh yes, and she will be planning the wedding. Just so you know.

And when Cele spots her he is very happy to see her. "Grandmother!" He tugs Lydia's hand toward her, grinning broadly. "We have news."

Lydia follows, smiling, though of course she's a touch apprehensive: things haven't always been sunshine and roses with Nerdanel, and she knows she will need to have her betrothed's grandmother's approval, if all is to go well.

"My lady," she ventures, very politely.

Nerdanel glances at Pandora, and for a moment her gaze is still, and considering. But then it softens, a touch, and she inclines her head. Gracefully. "Lydia," she says, kindly enough, and then turns to Tyelpe and a true smile emerges. "News? Tell me, nephew."

Oh, she has a guess. Really does.

He squeezes Lydia's hand tightly for a moment and takes a deep breath. He wants his grandmother's approval a great deal. "Grandmother, Lydia has agreed to marry me."

Pandora looks at Nerdanel quietly. Her voice comes as not quite a whisper, but still.

"It would mean the world to us if we had your blessing, my lady."

Mostly to Cele, really, but she'll do anything for him.

Nerdanel looks at Pandora, a quiet, long, expressive look that says quite clearly, I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing this for my grandson. Earn my trust. Until then, I don't trust you with the rest of my family. Just him.

"Of course," she says, gently, and reaches out her hands to take Cele's. "You have it. You have always had it, grandson. And now - granddaughter."

Even if it is given with reservation, her blessing is a relief to Cele and he squeezes her hands with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Grandmother."

Pandora understands perfectly the hidden message, and nods. "Your blessing honors me, my lady," she says, inclining her head respectfully.

She smiles, and leans to give Cele a kiss on both cheeks before releasing him and going to Pandora, after a moment, and offering her hands there as well. "I hope you know," she adds, with a little glint in her eye, "That I will be planning the wedding."

"I hope that you will allow us at least a little input," Cele says, but he's smiling. He's glad that she wants to be involved.

"As long as you are happy, love," Pandora murmurs. She squeezes Celebrimbor's hand tenderly.

She's willing to go along with the motions, but she will be grudging Nerdanel if she feels utterly dispossessed of her own wedding.

Then again, it seems dispossession does run in the family. Hm.

Nerdanel wants to greet you properly, Pan. Hands, for yours. And she will give you a kiss on each cheek, too. You are her granddaughter now, for better and for worse, and that does make you part of the family.

"You, certainly not," she says, teasingly, "I'm sure your wife will have to have her say, though..."

Cele sighs, a little dramatically for effect. "As long as Lydia has her say, then." And if Lydia feels too pushed out he's willing to have a word with his grandmother. He's sure that they can work together.

Pandora is surprised, and -- well, accepts it, though her eyes widen a little, which is uncanny in her vampiric face.

"-- I have no family to speak of, and only a few friends," she says. "It will be little trouble, certainly."

Pan - this is Nerdanel. She has reservations, of course, regarding her sons, but - she respects Cele's choice, and that makes you family. And family needs to be taken care of. So.

"Well," she says, "I'm sure Tyelpe has enough family for both of you. There'll be enough to manage without the guests, I promise you."
