[Joint Post] Senbazuru (A Thousand Origami Cranes)

The past three months have been busy for Tsuzuki, but delightfully so: for a few hours each day, he and Sophie have been sequestered in a corner of the main room, folding origami paper cranes and threading a loop of colored ribbon through each one, to hang them up. Lystra's walking along, about to go through the doorway when she notices the paper cranes hanging from the lintel. She stops to admire them, eyes wide with wonder, and reaches up to touch one gently.

She thinks they're lovely.

Cue a Sophie pouncing Lystra's legs! "Your Majesty! Happy New Year!" She's a bit overly excited by the situation.

Lystra is also excited! And Sophie's excitement makes her even more so.

"Sophie!" she exclaims, surprised but quite happy to be pounced on. "I didn't see you there!"

Hisoka hurtles into the common room on his way to the front door. He is a bit stir-crazy and was intending to take a walk, and is therefore dressed in a thick Scandinavian-patterned sweater, boots, and a scarf. But now he stands looking up and all around, his mouth open with surprise. "This is beautiful!" he exclaims, softly.

Tsuzuki is currently fussing with one especially stubborn string of cranes which keeps twisting on itself, but he pauses, grinning at Hisoka. "Hey there, Hisoka! If at any time, I mentioned that I had a secret mission that I was working on, this is it!"

Sophie wanders back from putting her doll to bed, and bounces towards the two men.

"Mister Hisoka!" She'll hug his leg and give him a happy grin. "You're here!"

"Hey, Miss Sophie!" says Hisoka, laying a gentle hand on her hair. Then he hugs her. "How do you like all these CRANES???"

He smiles at Tsuzuki over Sophie's head. "The best of secret missions, clearly!" His eyes say, I remember your kindness.

Etienne is leading the way, staring at all the cranes. "Why are there birdies in the house, papa?" he asks.

"I don't know, dear," Armand answers, but he's looking for someone who is hanging them. That's where the answers are, after all.

Tsuzuki is currently perched on a ladder, anchoring a long string of cranes to a chandelier. "Hey there, Armand! I see you've found the Senbazuru, the thousand paper cranes that Sophie and I have been working on for weeks," he says.

"Well, cranes are good luck, and it's said that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will have their deepest wish come true," Tsuzuki says, coming partway down the ladder and perching on the middle step. "I showed Sophie how to fold them, and from there we just started folding more and stringing them."
