Brat prince, meet the Mansion's resident brat king.

Melou is out in the woods somewhere, just standing and brooding. The colder weather is perfect to be emo to.

Bundled up in a fur-lined greatcoat over his usual uniform, Wolfram has set out to explore more of the Mansion's grounds. Spying Melou, he looks him up and down. "You should be on your way if you are keeping watch over these lands: a guard is only as good as he is dutiful."

Yes, he's mistaken Melou for a guard...

Ahahaha. The typist is amused. Melou isn't. Why do people keep mistaking him for a guard? He doesn't look like a guard. He looks like a king.

"I am not a guard."

[prinzwolfiechan]

"You are walking the forest, that must make you a guard of this place, does it not?" he insists. "Don't contradict me."

"I am not a guard. There are no guards here."

[prinzwolfiechan]

Wolfram's brow furrows. "What realm goes unguarded? That's only more reason for someone to keep watch over it. You seem healthy and strong enough to assume the task," he snips.

"I am not a guard," Melou repeats, more forcefully this time. He's starting to get annoyed. "This place has no guards."

[prinzwolfiechan]

"It would if you would apply yourself to it: if there is a task to be done, don't just expect someone else to do it," Wolfram snips, turning up his nose at the *arrogance* of what he's mistaken for a servant.

"And what do you expect I would guard this place from?" Melou snaps back. "Nobody could attack it."

Except giant snakes, but he's not mentioning those for the sake of argument.

"A place as rich as this is likely to be the target of thieves and brigands trying to attack it," Wolfram snaps. "For a servant, you're incredibly stupid. You're lucky you haven't been sacked for slacking off like this."

Melou gives a contemptuous snort. "I am not a servant, and this place has never been attacked by thieves."

If Wolfram thinks this place has servants, then he must be the stupid one, in Melou's opinion.

"Just because it hasn't happen, doesn't mean that it won't," Wolfram snaps. "If you think that thus place can't possibly be attacked or raided, then your complacency will cost you. Who is your master? He should be ashamed, having servants who are this lax and untrained."

Over-confident demon prince is over-confident.

Oh, now Melou is getting really pissed off. "I am not a servant. If you think that this place could be raided by thieves, then you clearly do not know much about it."

"What I do know is that this is a very well-appointed place, like the house of a wealthy man, and places like that are easy targets for thieves, particularly when they are as poorly guarded as *this*," Wolfram snaps, hand on sword hilt.

"And what you clearly do not know is that nobody owns this place, and it is too isolated to be attacked," Melou retorts. "If you are so concerned with this place being guarded, why not guard it yourself?"

"I am of royal blood: it isn't my place to defend the realm, unless there is a war, you idiot," he snaps. "I cannot afford to put myself in such peril."
