Light. Light that was brighter than anything he'd ever seen before broke through his eyelids and forced him back to the waking world. Not that there was much different. Without opening his eyes, the young man knew this wasn't his room. The bed under him was too soft. The smell was all wrong. It smelled like ... like baths. clean He wasn't sure he liked clean. Had someone come in? Impossible. He never slept that lightly. And back to the light. Time to open his eyes.
Yup. Not his room. Not his room at all. He had his things still. Maybe he'd been drugged and moved? But why? He'd always had that room. Always. This wasn't right. This was a change and Gunji did not like change. Change meant things weren't like they should be. The Rules no longer applied. Or did they? Were the Rules still the same even if things were different?
No. The Rules never changed. That was something he could be sure of. He'd been promised. That the Rules didn't change was a Rule itself. The Rules could always be counted on.
Gunji supposed he should get up. He should see what was different. What had changed.
The room was ignored in favor of the door and the hallway outside. The tall young man walked for a moment, looking at walls and the floor before stopping in front of a window.
Green. He'd never seen so much green and blue and ... color. He was motionless and speechless the sight of which may have killed his partner, just staring at the alien image stretching out beyond the window.
