[Introduction]Nankurunaisa ("It'll all work out")

Jun 10, 2010 02:44

The Red Shield's ship was going to sink any minute now, with Riku and Kai stuck in the hold where they'd ended up while trying to avoid Diva and her goon. Kai had gone to find some decent tools to unbolt the cover on a ventilation duct, but Riku wasn't going to sit still. His hands were smaller and he might have better luck with the coin Kai had been using as a screwdriver to loosen the bolts. Maybe because he was a Chevalier now, he could work harder and faster than Kai could.

That's why he didn't notice that small, graceful figure sneaking up on him, not until Kai yelled to him to watch out. Riku turned to find Diva standing there, her deceptively innocent blue eyes burning with something like hunger. Kai shot at her, using the gun Mr. David had given him -- Dad's gun -- and she dropped. He hoped that was enough to give them a chance to escape, but as Kai started to run to his side, Diva sprang to life, hurling Kai away as if he were no heavier than a kitten.

She turned again to Riku, her eyes still burning. He tried to look away, he wanted to run, but something in him awakened, responding to that light in her eyes, like a moth being drawn to a candle flame, even though he knew she could burn him worse than fire. A cruel smile crossed her angelic face as she tore off the lacy gown she wore and let it drop to the decking before she reached for him.

"Don't be frightened," she crooned, in a sweet voice clearly meant to be soothing, but which filled him with even more fear. "Soon, you will be mine." Dad had given him "the Talk" just months ago, just after his thirteenth birthday, but the last girl he wanted to have touching him was this girl, his adopted sister Saya's twin. He felt his insides cringe as Diva pressed her lips against his, her body against him, pushing up against a crate. She started tearing off his suit, the old-fashioned long jacket and the trousers that ended below the knees -- Joel's gift to him, since Riku had wanted something more formal, like the tailcoat and the open-collared silk shirt Haji wore -- and flung them aside before she threw him to the floor, helpless to resist. As she mounted him, Riku fought to pull his mind away, to think of something, anything but this: life back in Okinawa before all this started, Saya's track meets, Kai's baseball games, Dad cooking taco rice and chatting with the customers at Omoro, Hagi playing the cello and showing him how -- oh God, please make her stop.

But she didn't stop. Not till he lay beneath her, too sore to fight her off. Not till she bit open her own arm and let some of her blood run into his mouth before she got up and turned away, dressing herself like nothing had happened. He could feel her blood gagging him, burning his body from the inside out, turning every cell of his flesh as hard as stone or crystal.

The ship lurched, shaken by an explosion somewhere. Boxes rained down, burying Riku's body. but he barely felt it. Something within him was slipping away, filling him with an excruciating pain, worse than when Diva had drained him in that tower-room in France, worse than when Saya had given him some of her blood to save his life and he could feel it burning through his body. As he felt Diva's blood turn the last of his body to crystal, he felt everything fade into darkness...

He opens his eyes, finding himself laying on an unfamiliar floor, his clothes still in disarray. He sits up, looking around him at a hallway of an unfamiliar mansion. For a split second, he hopes he was in a Red Shield safe-house, but this doesn't seem right.

"Saya? Kai? Are you there? Wh-what is this place?" he calls out, trying not to be scared.

One of the last things Kai had said before Diva attacked them came back to him. "Nankurunaisa"... It'll all work out.

Name: Riku Miyagusuku
Fandom: Blood+
Media:Anime/light novel
Other relevant info: Taken from just after his death in the anime. Be gentle with him, he's just been through a horrible death and he's likely to be skittish till he's settled. But once he's sure of himself again, he's likely to be more forth-coming and friendly. Note: Because he is a vampire, he may be needing blood soon, but have no fear, he's too gentle and sweet to "vamp out" on anyone.
