Armand sets Etienne down, because he doesn't want to upset the child again. He points to some flowering weeds a few feet away and sends him that way. Then he steps very close. "We could not go home that night, nor any after. My house is gone, and my husband with it."
Armand approaches cautiously, in case that magic goes astray.
