[Open] Where broken elves go...

It wouldn't be a normal day at the Mansion without its copious serving of elvish drama. And so here is a Caranthir, hiding, as is expected of him, in the stables.

He followed advice from his younger brothers, and ended up spilling a ridiculous amount of awkward beans to an older brother. And now, he feels stupid. Really, really, really stupid for ( Read more... )

He lost his shadow somewhere. That's odd. And ...minorly concerning. While he's out - just in case he's caught, so he has an excuse, because yes he does need an excuse to see what happened to his following brother, he manages to track him down to the stable door, and then stops, wondering if he's going riding.

But it's not like Caranthir to give up on something, and even if he should be relieved...he'd like to know why.

If Curufin is listening attentively, maybe he'll hear something - words that are disjointed, whispered to the horse.

"-- killed him, you see, --- " "-- and she was -- had the most lovely pair of --" "-- don't know what I was thinking, but why did I have to ---" "I told Maitimo he would hate me --"

Ah. Maitimo.

Curufin leans back against the barn, mouth twisting a little. Certain words still sting and deeply, and he's not going to forget that anytime soon. In the next sixth months. Maybe longer.

However...this is interesting, and Moryo's sordid problems are easier to handle than his own, so...

Listening it is.

There's going to be something unintelligible - then a few other strands, "-- didn't even let me explain myself -- can't believe he'd think --" and again, something inaudible, "-- he really does think he's the self-righteous one, doesn't he?--" and again, more mumbling, "-- can't believe this but fuck, why does it hurt?"

Curufin smiles, faintly. So it seems someone other than he is not pleased with their eldest brother. He really shouldn't be surprised...Caranthir has always been temperamental. But what he's hearing...

He makes his decision, and opens the door, strolls in with all the casual ease of a more usual brother. Just going for a ride. That's all.

The moment the door is opened, the mumbling stops. Caranthir is petting his horse, nothing strange, nothing to see here.

He goes to fetch the horse he has claimed - and pauses.

"Carnistir. I was startled to find myself without a shadow today."

"I'm sure you were relieved," he manages to say without much emotion.

"Not particularly. I wasn't sure, after all, if you'd fallen into another pit." Pause. "Were you going somewhere?"

"I can leave," he says, and starts saddling Vela.

"Then you can ride with me just as easily," and hey look, it's not a question. Curufin has apparently mad up his mind.

Pause. Stare. Doubletake.

And then a shrug, which is as good as agreement.

...typist likes the typo in her last tag. Apparently Curufin doesn't agree completely with his own decisions.

"Glad to hear it. I hope you can be quick."

Typos are fascinating. Really. ^^

"Don't hold yourself up for me."

"I won't have to if you move, Carnistir."

He's too flabbergasted to do anything other than to comply. And on the horse he goes, then, still staring.
