In fact, after much reflection, he's decided that the only way he could keep himself sane was to set about productive endeavors. Nerdanel has spoken to their eldest son, and also just misses a husband. However, she won't interrupt him at his work. Whenever he comes home from planning, she'll be sitting on the bed, watching the door and frowning, brow slightly furrowed in what is no doubt a familiar expression of worry and focus.

Ambarussa separated - killed; and that likely means the others are hiding their own deaths from her; how is she going to keep them all alive, how is she ever going to keep them out of danger?

She will not lose her family again. Not now that her husband's other wives, as she sometimes thought of the Silmarils, are gone for good.

When he finally wanders home, it's late and he is tired. He'll come in, quietly removing his boots and tunic, lost still in his thought - and not quite noticing that his wife isn't sleeping, for once.

He's just so focused on what he's doing.

"Melindo?" She says, softly, not standing, but looking up at him as he disrobes, her expression tired as well - but only a touch, and rapidly gaining in certainty.

He startles a bit. "--- Nelleth --" And then, a concerned frown. "What are you doing up so late?"

She gets up, slowly, almost looking her age for a moment, and typist willing, embraces her husband, resting her head on his shoulder. "I wanted to see you," she murmurs. "I wanted...I don't know. Melindo, how am I going to keep all of us safe?"

He encloses her in his arms, one hand going in her beautiful hair, and kisses her forehead. "Hush, Nelleth - leave that to me. We will all be safe - I promise you."

She closes her eyes and tries not to say it, I'm scared. But she is afraid, and not for herself, just her loved ones, and everything that could happen... "I love you all," she says, softly. "I just want to keep you safe. You and our sons..."

"I know," he whispers. "But that is my duty, not yours," he says softly. "Do not take so much on your shoulders."

She presses her face against him, breathes in his comforting smell. "I know...only, love. Ambarussa never told me that they...and it makes me wonder what else they are keeping from me - us..." She hugs him, tighter. "And now Maitimo and Kurvo aren't speaking to each other..."

--- "--- Ah." A beat. "-- Nelyo did not tell me this. What happened?"

She sighs, a little, and hesitates. "Sit down with me? I'm sorry. It can wait...you're tired, you've been working all day. And I hope...I just needed to vent a little."

He holds her a little closer, kisses her hair again. "I will listen. Let me lie with you? The day's been long, but I want your warmth."

Nnngh, I love this pairing. >.>

She gives him a little squeeze, and nods. "Of course. I want to be with you anyway...if you don't mind listening. I admit that when it comes to Kurvo I'm not certain there's much I can do." She slides her hands down and squeezes his. "What were you so busy with?"
