They're fabulous, utterly fabulous, and both of them are being themselves. Justin is sprawled in a blue caftan, which he's made even more groovy with a blue wig to match and flawless make-up. His heels are hanging on his toes as he shakes one foot in the air, while the other is tucked under Belize. Perhaps because Justin is allowing himself more and more drag, in response to it, (internalized norms, we hate them), Belize has been keeping to his androgynous ways, skinny jeans, tight t-shirts, and other such things.
The couple can be found in the common room, both reading magazines, legs twined comfortably. Belize is going through an issue of the New Yorker, and chuckling at some witticism, while Justin has found himself a copy of Cosmo. Justin utterly adores and admires his boyfriend's intellectual pursuits, but he's in the mood for make-up tips. It's an older copy, from the 1980s, but Justin just calls it retro. "Blue eye shadow just never needs to come back," he mutters at one point. "Never."
From time to time, there's a break, they pause and kiss, then resume their shared reading.
“Oh, babe, listen to this,” he says, holding up his copy, dated November 2012, “President Obama's goals with regards to us:
1. Appointing an openly gay person to the cabinet.
2. The President’s signature on an executive order extending sexual-orientation nondiscrimination protections to employees of all federal contractors
3. The promulgation of regulations that are inclusive of L.G.B.T. Americans,
4. An Administration that is more responsive on immigration issues and more aggressive on the appointment of sympathetic federal judges.
5. Making same-sex marriage legal in even more states.
6. Federalize the marriage question.
7. How about a national gay-civil-rights bill?
8. Finally, gay-rights supporters would like President Obama to be more of an advocate during his second term, rather than someone who at times looks like he’s being dragged along.
How fabulous is he?”
Belize shows Justin his picture, beaming, “and the president of the United States is African-American! I don't know what US this is, but I like it.”
“It's a beautiful thing,” Justin agrees with a flash of a smile. “It will take forever to trickle down to the wizarding world though. Always so behind. Still, go civvies, with your gay rights and your hot black president!”
The conversations go that way, hovering between serious politics and affectionate cuddling, and yes, they're being public. Feel free to say hello to a completely twitterpated couple! They'll be fabulous and give you sparkly cookies.
[OOC: So, a joint open post with Belize and Justin, written in collaboration between the two typists. Anyone is welcome to say hello, gape, be nice or horrible, etc. <3
