Rupert is hungry, although it irritates him that he might have to make his own lunch.
As he walks in, he isn't even certain this room is a kitchen, not that he's very familiar with kitchens in the first place. But that is definitely food being prepared. "Good afternoon," he says, flashing a charming smile and helping himself to half of Phoenix's sandwich.
Rupert isn't royalty, merely nobility. Disappointed by the failure to acquire food, he leans back against the counter and watches Phoenix. "Forgive me," he drawls, offering an apologetic look as though he is a perfectly decent and polite person who is simply driven half to madness by hunger and privation. "I mistook you for a kind and generous soul. Perhaps you can direct me to where one might purchase food, in a place such as this."
Now, that's much better. Rupert picks up half the sandwich, leaving the other half as if to say see? we are generous, civilized people who share. "Thank you. May I ask you to elaborate upon your meaning?"
He then opens it, perhaps Ruperts gets a chance to ogle a bit, then Phoenix takes out a bottle of beer.
"You see, this place pretty much gives almost whatever we like in terms of food and clothing." He opens the fridge again, the bottle that was been taken has seemed to been replaced by a identical one.
The eerie magic of the thing sends a shiver up his spine, but Rupert certainly has no intention of revealing that. He sees meats, cheeses and vegetables inside the fridge, and isn't certain that he's hungry enough to eat any of them. "I see," he says, guarded, suddenly eyeing his sandwich with suspicion about its origins.
Devilry is one thing, and he's been accused of it often enough, but this is just... unnatural.
Rupert peers into the fridge, wondering if it's some manner of trick. The back could easily open like a door, allowing unseen servants to replace the food as it is taken. And yet, that doesn't satisfy his mind. "How does it function?"
"Magic," Rupert says, reserving judgement though he has already seen odd things enough in this place. This person knows nothing of the functions of it, and is therefore useless. Rupert chomps his sandwich, considering.
"I am Rupert of Hentzau," he adds as an afterthought.
Rupert shakes his hand firmly, although he personally prefers the more nuanced social interaction of bowing in greeting. Handshakes are so disgustingly egalitarian. "A pleasure."
He considers, for a moment, the advantages of seducing Phoenix, since he seems to have control over the magic of the food. But he also doesn't seem to have any understanding of that magic, and thus isn't powerful enough to be useful.
He's not drop-dead handsome, but he is charming in low-key way.

"Hey, that was mine!"
Rupert better learn that in this place, there's no servants here. Even if you're royalty.

"Sorry... anyway, we don't really 'purchase' food here."

Now the typist imagine Rupert pulling that same trick Phoenix did only saying 'Witchcraft' under his breath.

"Same." He replies nicely, almost naively.
