Arrietty, like others her age, often enjoyed a lie in before getting up and starting the days chores. Like others her age, she often didn't get to enjoy a lie in because her mother or father would be calling for her by now. Perhaps even Timmus would be eager to go out and show her something new he'd found...
But, perhaps they were letting her sleep in for once and for once she could wake up refreshed and relaxed and ready to start the day's borrowing.
Or she could wake up in a place that wasn't her room. Not exactly. There was a bed, but it wasn't her bed. This bed looked like the ones in the doll houses... and where were her books? And her pictures? This wasn't her room in the under the church window seat... Not at all...
Where was she? Only one way to find out!
Once she had dressed in proper Going Out clothing, she looked for a loose bit of wall or perhaps a grate she could slip out of and froze. This certainly wasn't the church at all! Where were her parents? Peagreen? The Harpsichords? Anybody? She couldn't possibly be the only Borrower in as grand a place as this, right? Did someone move her?

Other relevant info: Arrietty is taken from just after settling into her new home in The Borrowers Avenged, the last book in the series. Important to know for those of you just joining us, she is a little more than five inches tall and will likely be TERRIFIED at meeting the first Bean (or not Bean) of the day. After that, she may be a bit more brave and speak to new Beans.
