Ned has been very quiet, of late. His days are spent looking after his children, those who've grown and those who've yet to be born.

But this morning, his mind is on Westeros, and those children still unaccounted for. Bran. Rickon.

Snow falls slowly, covering the land, flat and hilly alike, and he whispers to himself, winter has come.Nostalgia ( Read more... )

Ned's leg is lame as ever (some things don't change) - but exercising does help. And so to stave off the chill, he may eventually take a walk to the godswood, until he comes along his brother's training grounds.

He'll pause, smile a little.

He's not interrupting, just yet.

He likes being able to spy on his brother like that.

"Well enough, Benjen," replies his brother as he wanders over, at his own pace, for a clasp. "T'is a fine day, if a cold one, but I reckon you feel right at home, aye?"

"Aye, I do," Ned replies. "If you don't mind being made to weep like an unflowered lass, brother."

It's all bravado, all for show, and they both know it.

"You may keep your delusions, brother," Ned replies, and he's taking his stance, readying himself, and smirking a little.

".... but only for a little while."

And then, he launches a first thrust.

Best. Typo. Ever. We do hope Benjen used a razor, and not his sword, for the shaving?

Also, I suck at writing combat, so, er, I AM SORRY in advance.

"Which shan't match the wisdom of experience, youngling," Ned retorts as he presses into the cross their swords make.

Also I am suck at writing combat - and this is old and we have them elsewhere - so what do you think of wrapping this one up?
