She could have sworn she'd just opened the door to her room. But instead of four familiar walls, her bed, there iss a decidedly unfamiliar room that looks nothing at all like any room she's ever seen in Winterfell. The door under her hand even feels unfamiliar; the wood treated to be glossy and smooth. Arya takes a step back, letting the door swing ( Read more... )

Sansa is sitting in the common room, working on some embroidery. She's willing to be interrupted, though--she's getting a bit tired, and for a moment she looks up and set her work down, pouting a little. It's hard work, being a lady!

Well. Amidst all the strange, Sansa seems to be destined to be a comforting familiar.

"Really Sansa... a new place such as this to explore and you sit and do your i>needlework." A regular method of teasing, though there's only good-natured humor in the words this time.

She sees Arya and gasps.

"Arya!" It's a loud exclamation of surprise--she never though that she'd miss her sister this much, and that Arya would actually come to the Mansion. She smiles a little, putting her work down, and moves to greet Arya, almost running across the room.

It's been too long, she thinks.

They might fight often, but Sansa is her sister, and so Arya will move right in for a hug if she can get away with it.

"I don't think I've ever heard you be so happy to see me before." She teased, keeping her tone light, though it did concern her. What had happened?

She hugs back, gladly.

"I'm just--I haven't seen you in so long!" She doesn't want to say, doesn't want to hurt her sister if she can help it.

"That's a strange sort of magic... Robb said the same thing, but I saw you only earlier today!" She replies, uncertain what to make of this.

She shakes her head.

"This place is strange. I came here from King's Landing." She bites her lip, realizing that she may have to tell the rest of the story.

"We were leaving for King's Landing tomorrow, last I recall... Sansa, what happened?"

"--Nothing," she says firmly, trying to end the discussion. "Nothing happened."

That just makes Arya push harder. Really Sansa, you should be used to this by now.

"That's not what Sir Clegane said."

"--What did he say?" she asks, surprised to hear that the Hound is here. She hadn't known that.

She doesn't want to say. Doesn't want it to be true.

"He said that... some of our family... that they died." She responds in a soft reluctant tone.

Sansa stiffens.

"Father did, yes, but he's here too, I saw him, and he told me it was all a dream--" She wants to believe that so desperately, but in her heart, she knows he lied to her.

That there hits her like a ton of bricks. In her mind, her father was unstoppable, unkillable against all odds, and to hear the truth of it from her sister? It... hurt.

"...I didn't want to believe him."

"I know, Arya," she says, and it feels like her voice is slipping away from her--like someone else is saying these things, not her. "I know."

She hears that shift in tone, and wanting to offer comfort, hugs Sansa again, tight and reassuring.

"It's okay though. He's here, and he's well."
