Why I ♥ Japanese fashion magazines

I love Japanese fashion styles in general and especially the presentation of it in Japanese fashion magazines. Most of the magazines basically focus on the clothing and are full of pictures. There are A LOT of Japanese fashion magazine which present different fashion styles for different types of people.

In Japan, most magazines feature around ten regular models who appear in every issue. Since they also sometimes have they own diary columns, you get to know them pretty well. The most popular ones can also pursue a career outside of the model business. A recent exampe is ローラ (Rola), a model who used to be a regular on ViVi and now is a well-known tv personality.

My favourite magazine at the moment (it changes from time to time) is actually ViVi. I find their models very pretty and I like the styling choices and clothes they pick out in general. They feature a lot of ハーフ (,halfs‘, the Japanese term for a person of who‘s half Japanese, half a descent other than Japanese). Especially halfs with a European background are pretty popular. At the moment, there is Triendl Reina who has an Austrian father and a Japanese mother. You might have seen her on Japanese tv, she‘s in a lot of commercials lately!

Another magazine I like very much and just discovered recently is チョキチョキガールズ (Choki Choki Girls). Their main focus is more on hair styles and make-up but it's a nice magazin to look through and get inspiration for hair arrangements.

Everytime I go to Japan, I come back with at least the latest issue of my favourite magazines. It‘s also a really nice present for everyone who like fashion in general and can be enjoyed by people who can‘t read Japanese at all, simply because those magazines are visually so appealing. So I recommend to spare a little space in your suitcase for the newest issue of a ViVi, FRUITS or Choki Choki Girls.♥
