That hyper text doohicky we had to read all good-like

I think it was Ross that said something along the lines of "the reader did not have much control."  Those were the exact words that crossed my mind as I was reading it as well.  It was like all we had in terms of control, was a spring-board to another plot as we plodded through disjointed parts of one to another.  After reading that other people had a similar take on it, I began to rethink things, though.

We have those colored lines along the sides that allow us to jump wherever we want, whenever we want.  I'm thinking that the next time I read through it, rather than follow the links given to me on the page itself, I'll follow one of the tangents on the side.  I think one time he even said something in the hypertext like "was it pink, or maybe orange-purple."  And I saw on the side bar, these colors.

Maybe it was a hint, a foreshadowing?  Like the one page where it was like "Salt. Semen. Shore." etc. and then on the page itself there was a narrative about a girl on the shore asking her daddy about semen.  It was weird and gross, but it's like we're seeing the hypertext linking within itself.  Perhaps we are given more power in regards to the colors and lines, and we have to find that power--it isn't self-evident?  I'll see when I read it again.
