Quick aside

A note on why I've been so elusive on this internet of ours all week: on Saturday I started feeling a bit "woozy" and one hour later I was bent over the toilet at work.  I had a temperature of 103 until basically yesterday.  I had a tough time moving around out of bed, combination of tremendous weakness and splitting headache.  I did get to finish all the readings but the hypertext as well as make a few notes on each.  I'm going to be blitz-posting what I've got from that tonight.  I have to catch up with everyone else!

Is what our editor pointed out in NMR, that "the populace (elite or not) accesses the Web and reads information almost entirely via large, corporate Web sites such as Yahoo! CNN.com, and MSNBC" as big a problem as it is made to seem?  Sure it makes the "publishing" of ideas similar to print in the sense that we need to go through a bigger "publisher," but is it tremendously limiting?

And would it be as problematic if a corporation made a site/server that was entirely devoted to gathering blogs all under one banner that did not have any motives other than the blogs themselves (medium is the purpose haw haw)?  And really, have corporations been too terribly limiting?  Their rules for posting, etc. haven't been anything short of common sense.  It is basically "don't be ridiculously offensive for no reason, oh yeah, don't post pictures of your balls."
