more about my stupid stomach

Oct 10, 2007 17:08

the gastroscopy and colonoscopy went well. i don't remember a thing about the gastroscopy after the moment they put the mouth guard into my mouth. when i woke up they had already started the colonoscopy and i could see my very own lower intestine on the tv screen.

according to the doctor everything looked normal except for the fact the stuff they gave me to clear out my system didn't get everything out. there was still a fair bit left in my lower bowel (i think) and they weren't able to see the valve. he doesn't want to run the test again unless they find something abnormal in the biopsy. but he does think that this lack of movement could be a clue as to what's wrong with me. so we'll see. I felt fine, if a bit heavy limbed and sleepy until about an hour ago when my stomach started to rage and hurt.

it is still not feeling okay but hopefully by tomorrow it will be better.

all in all this whole process was a lot better than the barium enema and upper GI scan I had when i was 20.

also they gave me a very nice chicken salad sandwich with cucumbers, a pear and a glass of apple juice. and a lovely view of the thames, that's what private insurance buys you, a view and a sandwich. i'll take it!
