I hope your boss is the type to apologize PROFUSELY for messing up this bad. Preferrably with something nice (flowers? a really nice latte?).

If not, I'd tell him that in the future, if he ever schedules something on a saturday again, you will expect confirmation beforehand or you won't show up...and if he doesn't show up despite that, you'll start billing him for the overtime.

Hell, even if you can't acutally do that, tell him that that's what you'd like to do, tell him he owes you big-time, just to get your point across.

No idea if this will work for you, but in similar situations, I've made my displeasure quite clear to superiors when they messed up in a "we're both supposed to be professionals and sorry, your performance right now was simply sub-par, don't do it again, 'K?" kind of way and it's always worked wonders (for me).

People tend to treat you the way you frame yourself, so if you assert yourself with self-confidence, people usually will react to that (and vice versa if you play the foot-mat).

Will follow your tumble, and truth told, the NSFW bit is actually a selling poing ^_~

Not on Pinterest yet, not sure if I will go there....I have too many accounts already...o_O
