Me and the roomie love Castle! We sit down to watch it every tuesday (it's on Monday, yes, but I go to bed before it's over, so we record and watch on tuesday). I've never thought much about either of their hairstyles, really. We started watching it for Nathan Fillion, because we are SUCH big fans of a cult classic he starred in: Firefly. When we heard he was in a new show, we just HAD TO see it. It's our shared obsession - my roomie even has the books.
Foreign ears aside, yes, Katic's american accent is flawless. I didn't know she wasn't american until I saw her name roll by the opening credits. Then again, here in the US, a name alone really doesn't give much but the barest hint of where you might be from, if it gives any hint at all. There is an episode when she speaks in an eastern european accent though, I think. If my shoddy memory is recalling things correctly.
See, I can enjoy a show even if there's no one I particularly think is PRETTY. Because the cast of firefly was so quirky and just plain FUN. I loved Jayne (b/c he was just entertainingly psychotic), and I thought Kaylee was adorable, and Shephard - he had some really great moments.
I think there's something to be said about a show that's cancelled and THEN gets a blockbuster film after the fact. lol. But, I'm a big firefly fan, so I'm biased. It's sort of one of our favorites in this house. I've even been gradually collecting the graphic novels (only one to go, i think). This is making me think I really need to re-watch it.
Ah, yeah that was it. it's been a while. I don't have a good memory for the little details. Castle really is great, though. It's my one and only show that isn't science fiction, actually.
You really sold it to me ;) I might give it a try. It does sit on my HD together with zig-thousands of other unwatched shows/movies :D
I seriously don't know why I didn't like Firefly. Actually I also didn't like Dollhouse very much ... but I loved Buffy and Angel, especially Fay, Gloria, Drusilla! (And Nathan Frillon as villain was great!)

I'm glad! It's really a great show. And it's also a really short show, so if you watch it and find you don't like it after all, you haven't lost that much of your life on it

One of the main reasons was that the cast didn't appeal to me. There was no one I found even remotely attractive.
Yes, in season 1 there is an episode that deals with russians in Chinatown, and she pretends to be a russian girlfriend.
