I agree with your rant for the most part. I will say, there are times I really wish a writer would double check their spelling and run their story through a word program that might pick up on spelling and grammar errors, since too many time I've been thrown out of a fairly good story because of them. But, I don't know that my telling them that in a public forum would help.

In that case, I think some sort of private message is the best route if you're absolutely compelled to tell them about it. To me, it's like pulling someone aside to tell them they have spinach in their teeth or toilet paper on their shoe. You don't announce those things to the world.

In my case, I'm grateful when someone points that sort of thing out since in my medium, there is no spell checker and I do make typos when lettering a page. I spelled Ginny's full name wrong recently and was glad someone pointed it out since I missed the transposed letters at 12:30am. For me, that's a good thing. But I can see how someone more sensitive might prefer to not hear it or at least prefer to hear it in private.

The rest I agree on 100%.

Yes, I'd also definitely opt of t a private way of communication to point out stuff (if possible).

Esp. if it's something like "Waste" and "Waist" ...
