Yes, that first movie has cult status, especially also because of poor Brandon Lee!

I have also only watched only the first Karate Kid movie and the first three Indiana jones movies.

That said, sequels and the making of sequels in these days was much more inferior these days. It was done with a purely commercial aspect, to kind of milk the last dollars out of the original film.

Nowadays most productions already plan trilogies in the concept phase. and remakes of movies and tv shows are braver and different, for example Battlestar Galactica. A lot of the old BSG fans loathe the new "re-imagined" BSG and I can't fault them: it is so different, so much darker. I again, liked the new BSG (that is until the last episode. That last episode ruined the entire series for me.) but never cared for the "original series".

I liked Nolan's re-imagined Batman series much more than "original" Batman movies, which I found too Hollywood, too Disney while the Nolan versions were as gritty and dark as the comics (visually). (Pity, I hate that guy who plays Nolan's Batman.) However I can see how a fan of the original, much more uplifting series would not be able to enjoy the Nolan series.

There are even some films/movies I wish, would be re-done, with a more modern script, more and better CG, like The NeverEnding Story, which could be an amazing work if someone dared to do it.

Maybe the only way to remake The Crow is to truly be different from the original, to change almost everything about it,, and not try to imitate it?

I loved the first three karate kid movies, but I know that's at least in part due to the fact the karate style in the films is the one I used to study, so when he's doing kata, I know those kata, which adds a new level of cool to the films for me that has nothing to do with the plot.

I didn't even know there was a BSG remake, but I've been planning to Netflix the original. Odd that you mentioned it right after I decided to give it a shot. And, Neverending story is THE movie of my childhood. I still love it SO much (again, only the first one) that while you're not wrong about visual effects, I'd still be afraid to watch it if it happened.

The problem with remakes is that you tread a fine line. On the one hand, you have to change it and make it your own, on the other change it too much and it loses its, well, soul, I suppose. Batman handled it well. I think the earlier films played up to the campy superhero concept more, though not as blatantly as the TV series! The newer films focused more on the serious soon, saying 'hey, these are dark characters!' And played a bit off of the dark times we were going through when the films were being made. They avoided the goofier villains to keep things more gritty. But, they're both batman. The character doesn't lose his personality in transition, the focus just shifts.
If they can do that with the crow it could be brilliant, but the cult following is going to make it a hard sell.
( I won't watch the new spiderman, either! Lol. But on the other hand, they're long overdo for a decent superman!)
