Beg, Borrow, Steal, or Pay Full Retail Price is a Newsies AU, of course. Kurt's the vaguely uptight, educated kid who has to go to work as a newsie when his dad's injured and loses his job as a machinist at the factory. Puck's the freewheeling newsie who's running from the law, dreaming of a day when he'll escape the city and head out to the open country of the wild west and stake his claim on a homestead.

Together they fight the establishment and organize the first strike in newsie history, bringing the entire newspaper industry to its knees and establishing the precedent for labor unions in New York. But mostly they make out on fire escapes and bicker about Puck's devil-may-care attitude.
