OMFG YOU GUYS. Do you know what I saw today when I looked out my living room window? Fucking kittens. Two of them. Black, probably about eight weeks old. Just staring in at me like they'd been there all along.
Not just in my yard, mind. They were sitting in the window box right outside my window. Like, several feet off the ground. (I saw movement and thought "Oh my GOD, RATS" at first, so I suppose it could have been worse?)
Jesus H., you guys. A) THANKS FOR THE FLEAS, KITTENS. And b) What is next? Seriously, what is next? I cannot take anymore. I have literally reached my limit, Universe. Not even kidding.
My friend Anna Leah and I carpool on Thursdays, so I made her come inside and look at them, then I made her wait while I got my carrier and a towel. I tried to catch them, but of course they hopped onto the fence and took off under my deck as soon as I approached, where they were probably born and are probably living now, just chilling in my back yard and eating mice (which is fine) and living the good life.
I should treat my yard for fleas, of course, but a) that is expensive and b) I don't want to hurt the fucking kittens. So now I have to decide if I need to trap them and take them to the shelter where they will at least be cared for and seen to medically, or if I should just pretend they're not there. I suppose I will wait and see if they turn up again. Oh, who am I kidding. This is my life. They'll probably be sitting on my front steps when I get home.
Man. I have four days off in a row, starting tomorrow. I had plans for this weekend. Mostly plans to sit around and maybe do some writing, but still. They were my plans and I was looking forward to them. Now I have to worry about possibly catching a couple stray kittens. And emptying the pointless fucking window box so they'll stay away from my window.
Aaaand we just spent half an hour outside waiting for the building to be declared safe after a fire drill. I am over today and we're not even open yet.
