Baby clothes! They're cute 'cause they're tiny.

Today's burst of creativity is The Watermelon Dress, aka The Nummy Nummy Dress. It's for my niece, and it's called thus because my niece LOVES watermelon. She calls it 'Nummy Nummy', and as soon as she spots some her eyes get wide and she will focus on nothing else until it's gone. If you don't watch her she will eat an entire watermelon by herself and then pee her way through an entire box of diapers. She's a maniac with the watermelon. Naturally she is going to dig this dress.

Day two's project is a sundress for my niece. I actually sewed most of it last night, so this is kind of cheating, but I have plans to start another skirt later, so I don't feel that bad about it.

Pattern: New Look #6906
Notions: thread, 3/4" elastic
Verdict: Again, this was a very easy, quick project. It went together in about an hour, I'd say, including lining the top. It's pretty cute and I will definitely make it again. Here are some pictures:

Here's the front. You can't tell from these pictures that the bodice is lined, but it is. It's not hard to do, and it just makes for a more finished garment. Plus, the lining helps form the ties on this particular dress, so you can't really skip it.

Here's the back, so you can see the gather created by the elastic, except that it's kind of hard to see.

And here's an action shot of the dress hanging. I haven't tried it on Mia yet, but I'll try to get a shot of her wearing it before long. I have some leftover watermelon fabric because I bought the rest of the bolt at the remnant price, so I'm thinking of making this floppy beach hat to go with it. I think that would be pretty goddamn cute.

Okay! Now I have to go for a run. I haven't been running in like a month. I might die. Wish me luck!
