So I was out running earlier, in broad daylight, which should be a lot more safe than, say, when I run in the dark at 5:00 am. Right? Well, there's this hill on the way back to my neighborhood, and it kind of curves around, so you have to pay attention while you're driving on it. I was on the sidewalk, running down the hill, as you do, when all of a sudden this car whips around the corner and MOUNTS THE PAVEMENT like ten feet in front of me.
She corrected immediately and got the fuck off the sidewalk, but Jesus. Women drivers, man. Always giving women drivers a bad name. I hold them to a higher standard, I do. And you know why? Because men already think we are shitty drivers, and the reason that they think that is because so many of us give them reason to believe it. It just pisses me off.
At least she didn't hit me! I would prefer to follow in Stephen King's footsteps by publishing something, not being mowed down while I'm trying to get some fucking exercise. I will use this as an example of why running at 5:00 am is actually safer than running during the day.
Here, have the song I am currently obsessed with:
Mike Doughty -- 40 Grand In the Hole When I first got the Skittish/Rockity Roll two-disc set I neglected Rockity Roll in favor of the amazing Skittish, but lately I've been experiencing a renaissance. That song is the one which currently speaks to me the most.
Speaking of Mike, have you got his newest release? It came out last year. Here, have a couple tracks:
Mike Doughty -- (I Want to) Burn You (Down)Mike Doughty -- Lord Lord Help Me Just to Rock Rock On Tonight I have to head to the east side of town to teach some library patrons how to use Google Docs and, like, create a blog or something. I don't know why people can't figure out iGoogle by themselves, no. Yes, I find it surprising that they pay me to do these things too. If it's any comfort, they don't pay me much.
