Day 14 → A non-fiction book

I just started reading this book yesterday, but I am already enjoying the hell out of it: The Accidental Buddhist by Dinty W. Moore. (I do not know if that is his given name, or if it's just a nickname he got stuck with as a child, but if it's his given name, his parents are a special kind of sadist and it's no wonder ( Read more... )

I will have to try that book. It sounds really interesting. (Says the girl with tons of books lying around waiting to be read.)

It's an interesting book. And a very quick read, if that helps at all.

I have a American Buddhist on my flist. She posts about her struggles from time to time. I will have to recommend the book to her. (Also. Dinty Moore? Like the canned stew? WTF, parents??)

What are you making with the new fabric? You probably already said, but my brain, she is broken. I myself also went to look at patterns at Joann. I only came home for one for an apron I wish to adapt to match a very expensive, pretty one I won't pay the bucks for! (I need them because I end up covered in frosting when I cut cake. Messy.) In the meanwhile I'm sewing an elephant costume (McCalls as well) for Chloe. She's in a Noah's Ark play on the 12th. Yeah.

The new fabric is for that short-sleeved velvet jacket I posted about a few weeks ago. There is also material for a cute retro shirt dress, and some stretch knit for a blouse pattern I've had forever and never tried. So we'll see how all that goes.

Elephant! CUUUUUUTE. There will be pictures, I trust.

I need to make myself an apron. I make them for other people, but never for myself. My mom keeps saying she's making me a cool retro one, but this is a lie. My sister got hers a year ago and doesn't even wear it. Do I have one? I do not!

I spent $4 on a Vogue skirt and jacket pattern too, but I bought it in the smaller size so I have to lose more weight before I can make it. Which is fine, because I can't wear that look until I'm smaller anyway. It would just make me look boxy right now ( ... )

I remember the jacket now. ::grins::

I like the Vogue pattern. I think the short jacket/skirt version would look very nice on you. But you know you best, obviously.

Yes, I'm sure there will be elephant pictures. Hopefully it's going to turn out acceptably. I don't want her to decide 'homemade' is lame before she's three!
