Edit: The whole reason I started this post was to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to artistic_sillie! I hope you're having a fabulous day :)

Unpopular fannish opinion: I really, really despise the phrase 'OM NOM NOM'. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Just typing it right now is wigging me out. I see it all the time and I am trying to come to terms with it, but it ( Read more... )

It's been raining for three days straight, a steady, fine drizzle making the whole city feel soggy. Mostly it's just been annoying, because it means wet raincoats and dodging the weather every time he has to leave the office for another meeting.

By the time Saturday rolls around Harlan's pretty much over it, but the weather doesn't seem to care what he thinks, because the rain's still coming down. It taps out a steady beat against the living room window, mocking the plans he had for a little basketball on the outdoor court at the gym. And sure, he could head down there anyway and get something going on an indoor court, but it means dealing with the rain, and he'd just as soon stay in.

There's nothing on TV, of course. Not that he watches much of that these days, other than the steady drone of CNN in the background when he's getting ready for work. He doesn't have much time for movies anymore, either, but he still has all the DVDs he brought from his parents' house, and he thumbs through them until he finds what he's looking for. He pops it in the player and grabs the remote, sprawling on the leather couch just in time to watch the opening credits roll. He makes it as far as the first explosion before the air shifts in the room, and he looks up in time to see Marcus walking toward him.

"Which one is this?" Marcus asks, pausing long enough to watch Bruce Willis dive across the screen.

"Four."

"I heard this one sucked," Marcus says as he plants a knee on the couch and straddles Harlan's lap.

"It does. Bruce Willis is hot, though," Harlan answers, hands landing on Marcus' hips to pull him closer. "I thought you were working."

Marcus shrugs and slides a hand behind Harlan's neck, fingers tracing the soft hairs there until Harlan shudders underneath him. "I thought you were playing basketball."

"Too fucking wet out there," Harlan grumbles, but the rain doesn't seem so bad when Marcus is warm and just sort of rocking against him. "You wanna make out instead?"

Marcus grins and lets Harlan pull him close, lips parting under Harlan's and his free hand leaving Harlan's shoulder to slide down his chest. They haven't done this in a long time, because there's always work and the gym and those stupid parties Harlan has to show up at for work. So there's not much time just to make out on the couch like they did when they were teenagers, but Harlan's starting to think they should be making the time, because he's missed this.

He grips Marcus' hips and pushes until they're stretched out on the couch, Marcus pinned half under him and grinning up at Harlan. "You're missing your movie."

"Sucks anyway," Harlan says as he leans in to kiss Marcus again. "We're not missing anything."

I love these two. I had a dream that I was on Jeopardy and there was a category dedicated to David DeCoteau and I got it all right. Thank you for giving me a bright spot to my rainy day.
