I got the link to that video from someone on my friends list, but while I favorited the video, I don't remember who linked to it. Sorry about that. It still doesn't have many views, though, so I pass it along to all of you in order to add my voice to the jubilation. It's a good one! The Killers + Obama. Can't beat that ( Read more... )

Keeping my fingers crossed for the evaluation.

Why did you cancel your cruise?

School still sucks, btw. Just in case you were wondering.

I WAS wondering! I'm sorry to hear that. Of course, the fact that you are forced to take math is the reason it sucks.

I don't have enough vacation time for a cruise and a fangirl trip and going to visit my parents next month, now that my vacation time is cut in half. The cruise would have eaten ten of my fourteen days, at the very least. Plus, I couldn't really afford it. But I'm very sad about it, nonetheless. I was really looking forward to the tropics. I'll have to make do with Florida in February and pretend.

The evaluation was quick and painless and my supervisor somehow still thinks I'm awesome, even though I don't do anything around here. Thank God for small favors, really, because I need this job. Though one of our employees has been stalking another employee and he didn't get fired, so I'm probably safe.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of vacation time. I'd forgotten about that tidbit of unfairness. I'm glad that you still get fangirling. It would be unbearable without that.

Congratulations on the good review. (Tho you seem to be right about how low they've set the bar. Stalking? I ask you.)

I like math. I know, I know. That makes me all kinds of lame. There was a Stargate fic once where one of the characters had a tee shirt that proclaimed that "math is delicious". I think that was what made me like SGA fic in the first place! Still, the school version is all kinds of sucky. At worst I only have a semester to go...you'd think I could contain the whine. At best? If the college finally accepts my credits from The Other College, I'll only have five weeks. The likely hood of them making a decision BEFORE the five weeks have passed is pretty slim, sadly. Oh well. I know. No more whine without cheese.

I don't think the proud to be an American comment was directed at me. Just in case it was: it's not that I wasn't proud to be an American yesterday, more like I'm proud of what we as American's have accomplished.

I'm sorry to hear about the cruise. If I could take another one tomorrow; I'd be there in a heart beat.

You're right, it wasn't. It wasn't directed at anyone on my friends list, actually.

I am sad about the cruise, but I suppose there will be others. Someday.

Sorry about the cruise.

The vid was awesome. 3/4 of the building had the inauguration playing today. Someone wheeled a TV into the cafeteria and had it blasting. Then I was in the library printing out some stuff, and there were some 8th graders making up a test with the TV on in the background. One of them was MB, one of mine from my first year teaching. She kept peeking up at the TV while she worked, a smile on her face and tears rolling down her cheeks because it just meant that much to her. That one hit me right in the chest.

(And I totally need a better Obama icon.)

I mostly didn't get to see it, because of the work rotation, but what I did see was great. That's a cool story, I'm glad you got to witness it.

Yeah, I only got to see a few sections of it. The swearing in, part of his speech, the poem, and part of the benediction. But, as you say, what was seen was awesome.

Late to the party, but yay for a good PA. I NEVER seem to have those. Sorry you had to cancel your cruise, but remember, I am still willing to set up some sort of zip line in the back yard for you. I know that won't make up for it, but it still might be fun. And dangerous!

Oh, you. I had the shittiest day today (excerpt: Bess would not REST until she told me all about how much fun she had at her party!) and this made it a little better. A whole zip line just for me! I am seriously trying not to cry here. The lack of food is probably not helping, though I did buy some shitty light beer so I could pretend to be a real person.

How much fun she had BEFORE SHE PASSED OUT, you mean. Not cool, Bess. Not cool at all. Don't make me choke a bitch.

I've always wanted to zip line somewhere. And bungee jump. And skydive. Anyway. I had NOODLES last night for dinner! And they were delicious! Ah, phase 2.

Oh God, I miss pasta SO MUCH. Sadly, there is no phase 2 on my diet. I am retaining five pounds of water right now (that's not even an exaggeration; I got on the scale this morning) so that's not helping my mood either.

You know that bitch had the audacity to come up to me and ask if I was okay because I didn't seem like myself like five separate times today? Like I'm going to waste my breath schooling her on a what a miserable excuse for a human being she is. I am so angry I could spit nails. It's a good thing I have tomorrow off to wait around for the cable guy.
