I came home from work early with cramps. I did contemplate going to a party tonight, but there was just too much pain. However! The pain has finally subsided, and now I'm just chilling with a Canadian and some homemade nachos (so not on my diet) and waiting for the Trick-or-Treaters to arrive. "I vant to suck your blood," Clifford said, cape raised over his shoulders like he was planning to fly at Ricky and pounce on him.
Ricky rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, scanning the crowd in the gym and daring the rest of their class to say one word about his outfit. "This is the dumbest thing I've ever done."
"Come on, it's Halloween, live a little," Clifford said, but he dropped his cape and the stupid accent. "Besides, I think you look good."
Ricky looked down at the costume Ricky had forced him into, scowling at the too-short pants and the green makeup that was already making his face itch. "I look dumb."
"You do not, you look scary. I thought you liked it when people were scared of you."
Clifford nudged him with his shoulder, but instead of knocking Ricky off balance he only managed to bounce off the taller boy. Ricky stifled a grin at that and did his best to keep looking scary.
"This is still stupid. I hate school dances."
"Well, if you don't want to dance we could always find someplace to make out," Clifford offered, and this time when he grinned hopefully up at Ricky, Ricky couldn't stifle his smile.
"You'll ruin your makeup."
"It's a chance I'm willing to take," Clifford said, grabbing his cape and twirling toward the door. "This vay, master. I know just the place."
And it turned out that school dances weren't so bad after all, as long as you avoided the dancing. Not that Ricky was ever going to admit it.
