Request #2: For stormwind. TLC RPS, Evan/Jason (While You Were Out). Rating: Naked ex-boyband members. No pun intended. 476 words.

Author's note: The path to this snippet is sort of a windy one. It started with the line You were the innocence in springtime from Amanda Ghost's "Glory Girl", which didn't really say 'Evan/Jason' to me at all. But that particular line reminds me of a lyric from Joan Baez' "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer" (You said you'd be the warmth in springtime), and that got me thinking, inexplicibly, about cover songs. Which is how we got to this. I feel as though I should be apologizing. But there's nakedness, so I won't.

It wasn't the first time he'd heard Evan sing. He knew he had a good voice and he wasn't shy about it; there was that whole boyband thing, after all, and Evan did like to ham for the cameras, so he spent a lot of time singing on set. It was the first time Jason had ever heard him sing in the shower, though, and he couldn't help laughing at the cliché.

He was still laughing when Evan emerged from the bathroom, hair dripping down his back and a towel wrapped around his waist. "What?"

"Nothing."

It was obvious Evan didn't believe him; his goofy half-grin was proof enough, but he didn't push it. Instead he crossed to the bed and dropped the towel, knees on the mattress to crawl toward Jason and okay, there was nothing funny about that. There was nothing funny about the way Evan kissed him, either, and by the time Jason came up for air he could barely remember what they'd been talking about.

"You were laughing at my singing, weren't you?"

It took Jason a second to register the question; even longer to realize he was supposed to answer, especially when Evan was pouting up at him with that look. That was the look that got them into this whole mess in the first place, because he sure as hell never planned on sleeping with a coworker, and definitely not the resident drama queen.

"No," he finally answered, and he knew better, but he couldn't help adding, "I was just thinking that maybe you should talk to the producers about a While You Were Out soundtrack. I bet all your fans would buy it."

"Bastard," Evan said, but he didn't look all that pissed. In fact, he looked like he was actually thinking about it, and it was all Jason could do not to roll his eyes.

"Why not? You could do covers of all the classics. "If I Had a Hammer", "Little Houses On the Hillside"…"

"Shut up," Evan interrupted, shoving half-heartedly at his chest. And now Jason was laughing, but he kissed Evan again anyway, and this time Evan didn't try to push him away. His fingers tangled in Jason's hair to drag him closer, but instead Jason pulled back with a gasp.

"Thought of another one. "Since You've Been Gone". Or "Jacob's Ladder". Of course, you'd have to change it to "Jason's Ladder", but you've got that…what's it called…artistic license."

Evan rolled his eyes and Jason wasn't positive, but he was pretty sure Evan was trying not to laugh. His hand slid down Jason's chest, though, and yeah, that was distracting. "Do you think you could make fun of me later?"

"No problem," Jason answered. And that was the last thing he said for a long time. After all, he couldn't think of any more good song titles.

And while I'm here, a sooper sekrit message for cinderlily. Thank you for the card, sweetie. It was really nice of you to remember.
