hey i found the video of the snickers commercial but i coulnd't figure out how to put it on LJ, so here are the words..............
Happy peanuts soar
over chocolate covered mountaintops
and waterfalls of caramel.
Prancing nougat in the meadow
sings a song of satisfaction
to the world (the world!)

" Snikers celebrates Rikki Rudd's return to Nascar "
While this commercial is comical, it is manipulating its readers. The commercial is doing so by placing a man in a work setting in which his only relief is to eat the snickers bar. The slogan makes it seem like if a person wants to feel this much relaxation while working, no other snack will do so but snickers. This ad is suggesting that most people don't like to be at work and if you want to be like this guy while at work, carefree and happy, then eat snickers.
Also, Sinkers is using Ricky Rudd to better their product. His appearance in their Ad will increase their sales, especially in the group of people that are fans of NASCAR racing. They are using Ricky Rudd as a “false or irrelevant authority”. The slogan and the celebrity appearance play into the hegemony of society; convincing people that if they wanted be accepted them they must eat a snickers. . This is why so many advertising and marketing companies make such an effort to use celebrities in their commercials-so that their buyers will purchase their product since the celebrity they identify themselves with uses that product. It is disgusting the way people are so easily manipulated. Perhaps this is because it is human nature to desire to be accepted. What makes people stand out and become and individual is that despite human nature, they create their own perceptions and ideas. These people continue to think critically, which allows them to use the new opportunities that are born into society, such as black talk and net speak.
