wonderful day....
so i had to set my alarm for 12:45, so i would get up to see the game at 1 against wake at wake. isn't that sad that i couldn't wake up on my own? i love sleeping late. anyway, it was most excellent. wake never lead during the whole game! we rocked da hizzouse and finally won an ACC road game. yay for my happy tar heels. melvin (#1) had 20 points and shot 4/4 on his first 4 three pointers. on the left, sean and ray ray are hugging after the game. :)
so then lauren and i decided to go to duke. so we get there and immediately go to the student store in the bryan center before it closed. lauren wanted to get a duke basketball poster. i know this whole trip is kind of sacrilege, but it's awesome anyway. so she got a poster that she wanted to put in her closet because she's a closet duke basketball fan. haha, get it? so then we went over to cameron indoor to see if we could get in of course. the front doors weren't open and it says practice was going on on the door, so we walked around back trying all the doors on the way and one of the doors in the back was open. so we walked in and we could hear them in the gym. lauren was freaking out! haha. so then some other people came in (that lauren later recognized as chris duhon's mother and brother with some other people) and went in some door, so we followed them. there was a big long hall of offices and pictures of all the different teams from all the different years. when we got to the end of the hall there was a guy standing at the gym door. we started talking to him, and it turned out he was a freshman and a manager of the team. the door he was guarding was a door to the gym, and it had a window. we definitely saw them in there practicing, and lauren freaked out again. haha. :) so then we went back through and out in the front. we wanted to wait to see if the players would come out, but we decided to go eat. so we went and ate at mcdonald's, which was nice because i haven't been there in forever. then we headed back to cameron of course to see if we could still get in. we tried the doors, and they were locked this time. sad day. so we started walking back around to the front and here comes sheldon williams. lauren was like oh my gosh we're just going to go sit on this bench. we watched him go by, and he was kinda busy-ish listening to his messages on his phone, so she didn't say anything to him. next came sean dockery and daniel ewing. lauren was shaking... plus it was also freezing outside. so she asked them to sign her poster, and they did. as they were walking out lee melchionni walked out and was like do you want me to sign it too? and she was like yes please. thanks so much. he asked where we were from, and lauren said unc. he said cool. haha. so we waited a little longer and we were about to leave because we didn't think anybody else would be coming out. a few managers and stuff came out, but then comes jj redick. this is when lauren died. haha. she asked him to sign the poster, and of course he did. she told him he was her favorite player, and he said aww thanks. it was awesome. we met the duke basketball players!!! hahaha. it was a very successful trip to duke. as i said, it was all very ironic and very wrong as huge tar heel fans, but it doesn't really matter. :)
uhh yeah, we met him. hehe yay. it was a great day. someday he'll be all famous and in the NBA and i'll be like yeah, i met him. hooooray. it is so wrong but so sweet. now i'm "watching" the mavericks game online. i hope we win!!!!!!!!!!!!! beat detroit!!!!!!!!!!!! good times. update more later. ~heather
