smashleeey (1:48:07 PM): I love you and your dreams that you make come true Carolyn Edge
thanks friend, love you too!
her message was in response to my away message about working at both restaurants in one day, and dreaming of Europe all the while.
And that's really all I'm doing these days, and life is faboo. It's like college without classes, or really any other stresses. I've been reading a lot. Finished A Year in Provence-- so good. It was fun living vicariously through someone else's experience of moving to France til I can write my own memoirs :) And I'm about to finish reading Blink. Fascinating. The human brain... psychology... how incredibly complex God designed us, and how we can barely comprehend it all.
The 2 restaurants I'm working at kind of crack me up because one is so crappy, and one is so amazing. For instance, get this: Crappy restaurant e-mails their schedule to the employees weekly. It's supposed to come out Friday night for the following week. It usually doesn't come out until Sunday night which is a pain for trying to plan your week. Although I have a fixed schedule now, so it doesn't matter to me anymore.
Anyway, one week, the schedule didn't go out at all. I had an audition during one day that I was supposed to work that week, and since I didn't have a copy of the schedule or anyone's phone numbers, I went into the restaurant Monday morning when they opened at 11 so I could get a copy of the schedule. The opening bartender was there, but none of the servers were.
Me: Hey I'm just getting a copy of the schedule because I need someone to pick up my shift. I didn't get the e-mail this week.
Manager: Yeah I think we had a glitch in our e-mail system, and I don't think anyone got it.
Me: Oh no. So... are people here for their shift this morning?
Manager: ...ooooh maybe THAT'S why no one is here!
Really? Smart ones you are.
Anyway, so it's a nice contrast to go to a restaurant that actually does things superbly. And then sometimes it's nice to be at a restaurant where I can slack off. But not very often because mostly they're just stupid and give crappy service.
Anyway I'm ranting by now. Peace.
