well...my trip has been exciting. monday we flew from gsp to atlanta and then to san antonio. we had barbecue which is of course one of the only reasons i keep coming back here...:)
yesterday we pretty much didn't do anything except have dinner with the meeks. they're here b/c lauren is looking at trinity...random.
anyway today we drove to moody to visit my 92-year-old great aunt. that depressed me quite a bit. she's all disfigured with age and can't hear barely anything. we were talking about how pretty some of the flowers in her yard were and she just had to imagine they were because she can't go out there to see them. she gets meals 3 times a week and has a helper who comes 4 times a week and some priest who comes on saturdays. and her house...oh my god. we walked in and i felt like i was in some kind of 70's cave. and then...we couldn't find aunt sis. and i got so scared for a minute that we would find her dead. but we didn't. so that was good. then we drove to troy to visit my 88-year-old great-great uncle and some random woman named grace who lives with him. i still have no clue who she is. anyway i liked him a lot. her not so much. we went out to the hiway 77 cafe, which is their favorite restaurant. then we drove over to bartlett to see my grandfather's grave...and that was pretty depressing too. mostly because gran's name was on the headstone next to his, but she's not dead yet. it had her birth date but no death date and it was just like it was sitting there waiting for her....creepy.
tomorrow we drive to corpus christi to have lunch with my dad's parents and uncle bill and aunt suzie. that should be better than today.
then friday we fly home. hooray!
