I know it's been a little while since I've updated, shit has been BUSY!

Sunday Chris and I spent about 10 1/2 hours with our agent looking at properties when having dinner and discussing everything. We narrowed our choices down to 3, but ultimately eliminated one because it was out of our price range. We set up yesterday to walk through the 2 properties again yesterday with Jamie and his parents. Yesterday our agent called me to let me know that the realtor selling the property that was out of our price range had called her. She said that her sellers were very motivated and to bring an offer. So we added the property to visits yesterday.

After going through all the properties we went back to the office to go over the numbers and decide which we were going to make an offer on. We had narrowed it down to 2 again, a little detached property and the property that was out of our price range. After reviewing the comparisons and monthly payments, etc, we decided we wanted to make an offer on the smaller house that was already in our price range. The more we talked the more things got turned around and we decided to put an offer on the bigger house. Our agent said she would get the contract ready today and we should come in after work to sign all the paper work.

She called me today to let me know that she had gotten in touch with our broker and he ran the numbers on our offer and let me know how much we were going to have to pay out of pocket and also how much our monthly payments would be. They're certainly higher than I wanted them be - but on top of that, the offer she said she wrote the contract for was $2k more than I had said I wanted to offer last night. I guess she misunderstood but we talked about it and as frustrated as I was I told her to just leave the contract the way it is and we'll do the paperwork after work.

Not only was I hit with that - but she also said that when we came to sign the paper I should bring my check book. I immediately explained to her that I don't own a check book. I don't have any checks at all. I use online banking and a debit card, I never write checks for anything. She told me that I would need to have $1k as a good faith estimate to send with my offer to show the sellers that we are serious about this offer. So I had to scramble to find a branch of my bank that is open later than 5pm since I don't make it back to the city until 5pm - and then also verify that they would sell money orders or cashier's check (which of course I'm going to have to pay for) so I can get this money before I go in for the paperwork.

I was getting pretty pissed at this point - nothing was working the way I was expecting it to. And even though I am getting a family loan to help me pay for this house, the money I have in my accounts right now I need to pay my taxes. Now if this goes to settlement that money will be put toward my down payment, and if not I won't get the money back until they flat out decline our offer and don't negotiate with us.

I'm starting to get pretty stressed because I feel like people aren't listening to me and I'm having things, "O BTW YOU'RE GONNA NEED $1000 TONIGHT LULZ" goddammit.
