I've read the Book of the Dead anthologies, the Max Brooks ones, I've read Brian Keene's The Rising (I didn't enjoy it as much as I liked his other horror work, but I'm still looking for City of the Dead).
I have the Monster Island/Nation/Planet books on my "watch for" list at the used book store.
Well, the George Romero/Suzanna Sparrow novelization of Dawn of the Dead is a start, especially since it gives a good idea of where Romero wanted to take certain parts of the story.

I HATED them.
Bad writing.
Bad plotting.
Utterly ridiculous premise.
