Moving and all that jazz

Apr 25, 2011 16:47

So as many of you know, I recently moved to a new place in San Francisco. As a short life update, I now live in a nice 2 bedroom apartment with my one year boyfriend, Robert : )

We got a great deal on the place and we live at the foot of Nob Hill. Just so you know, this hill will burn anyone's leg fat. I can guarantee that. The slope I live on is a good 40 degrees so wearing heels out of the house is like being a masochist. I'll update with more pictures soon of the new place, but for now!

ART POST!

I was supposed to post up Arizona pictures but moving kind of threw me off with my work so I've been massively swamped. I realized I've never put these up either.

Preview of many oil paintings, works I did while on my Arizona trip (a sexy Ducati bike) and the first digital WIP people have seen from me in awhile. The WIP is for axtar 's story called "Kite-Flying". Read it HERE, its awesome!

This was actually the first day in class painting I did, which sucked bad so I felt terrible even though it was my first official oil painting class and I had never painted a figure in my life with oils. I took a photo and painted the reference again with great diligence to teach myself to get past even a slight bit of the learning curve. I was quite happy with how it turned out.

Another in class painting that I liked. The leg got a little smeared because I didn't store it properly while it was wet so OTL. I like the colours though.

This painting DOES NOT photograph well at all because of the value patterns X_x; That and I'm doing the best I can taking photos of it without professional backing. I wanted to try something adventurous with the composition since in class we mostly do common rectangles and what not and wondered how it'd be like to try a square composition instead. Looking back, I wish I had handled some things better but I'm still pretty happy with how experimental I was being.

Guess who ? 8D

Ok for those of you whose realized it, seems I have been painting myself a lot (the one above is me as well). Its mostly because I lack proper models to do it and during the time I was having this class I didn't have much time to run around looking for one to do proper artistic direction etc etc. I did try to be more subtle with the one above and this one though! I'm not too fond of how I handled the skin but skin with harsh lighting from the sun is hard, but I quite like how I handled the sky, the rocks and many little objects around though. Palette knife is fun.

WIP for axtar 's story. Its in its SUPER rough stages and I've actually recently come to the mindset of redoing some small bits. I made it to the armature that i was taught in my class and I'm having fun with it though the final will probably look quite different. Tell me what you guys think though!

Some Ikebana drawings I did. I've found a new love for drawing Ikebana and I was trying out some coloured brush pens and seeing how to work and mix limited colours on the paper.

While on holiday in Arizona, my boyfriend's father brought us to the Ducati showroom and the manager let us unpack the brand new Ducati and draw it! Such an honour and I have a new found love for Ducati's! <3 Done from life with no under drawing.

Direct brush drawing of anything mechanical always scares the hell out of me. I was told that the Arizona Ducati store now frames this piece in their showroom though >////<

A little more of a random life update, I've actually found the Monster Hunter Pugi plush toys and I'm a little torn between the two. People on my LJ list *hinthint futomimii , sapphire_1010 *, help me pick between the two. Pictures are below.

SQUEEEEEEEE aren't they ADORABLE. TAT I'm just a teensy winsy bit more partial to the blue one but I really don't know! *sobs*

HELP ME OUT HERE GUYS TAT BUYING BOTH IS NOT AN ANSWER!
P.S. I watched and finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica and I love it to bits <3 Someone fangirl with me please.
