So, I've recently been on a zombie movie binge. And by binge, I really mean two movies in succession, although I also went through the 3 main Resident Evil movies a few months ago so it's kind of a cumulative thing.
There was a time when I'd have scoffed at the fanatical zombie apocalypse advocates, and otherwise sane people who make incredibly thorough and srs bsns zombie survival plans. Well, I suppose I still would, but now I can see the appeal. I certainly prefer zombies to vampires or werewolves. I can't see zombies being romanticised (at least in the mainstream) any time in the near future.
I have seen the following:
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Carriers (sort of zombie-ish)
Doom
Resident Evil
RE: Apocalypse
RE: Extinction
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
ADDED:
Day of the Dead 2008
Dawn of the Dead 2004
Does flist have any recs? I'm a little hesitant to try the older, Romero-era zombie movies because, well, old horror classics tend not to do anything for me. I'm gonna need something a bit more visceral, better special effects, and perhaps more speed. Not that I have anything against slow-moving monsters -- they can be done well -- but a lot of the time they aren't.
There were many elements that I liked in the 28 Days/Weeks series, although Weeks really annoyed me. There are enough
complaints about it on IMDB boards that I need not repeat. But I do like that style of 'zombie'/infectious disease outbreak.
