The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
I'm giving this one a thumbs up, especially for the flow of the writing. The language/flow of the author is great - switching between SciFi & Fantasy references to ghetto slang to history to Latino cultural references with ease and continuance. The book is both casual and intelligent, very hard to categorize but I am okay with that. The only complaint that I have heard about the book is the unexplained Dominican slang en español, which is an understandable complaint. I had some trouble with it myself even though I had 3 years of teaching Dominican & Puerto Rican kids in New York.
