I work retail by choice. I could work elsewhere but I would porbably keep coming back to this job. Most of the time, I love my job. I love helping people find the fabric they need/want. I love seeing new projects and ideas. Today was one of those days where I wanted to crawl under a rock and hide. I think we got scammed with a bad check for $57.83. And I am the one who accepted it, Added to that, i got a call back from an unhappy customer about a lack of service ( SLAVERY) on our part at the store. He wanted a little pouch sewn at his behest and I told him multiple times that we didnt do that. One of my coworkers even told him the exact same thing. and she has been at the store for twice as long as I have. He called later in the afternoon to speak to the Manager. Well the Manager is not in today, so I took the call. he was ranting about how when he worked as a pants folder when he was asked to do something he did it. Yes but he also was asked to do those things by another employee of the same comapny. not a visitor from anywhere. I decided, very quickly that I was not going to get through to him, and put The ASSistant MANager on the phone, even though she was not technically working at that time. she spent 5 minutes trying to help him see the point of view from our perspective. Finally he said you should change, response Im not gonna. I hate customers.
Thank god I am not on the top.
