Interpretation of real life

I write what I hear. :)

Title: Domestic Symphony of a Thursday Evening

Fandom: None - Original piece

Genre: Drabble

Rating: G

Summary: If you listen closely, you might hear the music.

First movement: Footsteps pacing stubbornly on a scarred wooden floor; percussion refusing to sleep. The melodious tinkle of the leaky tap plays to the irregular rythym of the pencil scratching across its milky canvas. The walls shudder and creak as the wind rushes past in a temporary fury, then a strangely detached stillness descends in a hesitant, fleeting intermission. The muffled words from the constant drone of the television speak without an audience, and yet the dog's imprisoned whines beg for the comforting attention of the mechanical master. Finale: A siren wails away into the dark, clashing in dissonant chords with the simple tune of the clock on the mantelpiece as it reaches the new hour. The familiar clacking applause of tired fingers on a keyboard breaks out and waits for the next concert to begin.

I sit in the midst of it all, and listen to the music.
