hope and joy
I am subscribed to Catholic Spiritual Direction blog. Father had a beautiful post today about joy and hope in the season of advent when one doesn't have much to look forward to. Definitely worth reading.
I just recieved a copy of the Dark Night Retreat by Fr. Ralph-Elias Haddix, OCD that was held in October at Avila Retreat Center in NC. I can't wait to listen to it again.
I also am about to start reading Hungry Souls by Vann Den Aardweg. My friend Nancy just finished it and it has really impacted her. She had a very different view of purgatory before this. Since Ruth's death I have felt drawn to reflecting on the last things and I hope to open more avenues in my spirituality in that direction.
