It's been a long weekend, it seems. First Thanksgiving, then Teddy's birthday, and then I worked. Well, it feels longer than it sounds...
Thanksgiving was excellent. I made Turkey in the style of Crispy Aromatic Duck - rubbed with five spice, roasted, and boiling oil poured over its skin until it is glass-like in crispness. All-in-all, awesome. Teddy was a bit under the weather, so I stepped up to the plate and made his famous twice-baked sweet potatoes. They, also, turned out well, but I get the nagging suspicion Teddy could've done better. I boiled the turkey carcass, but have yet to make it into anything. I'll do that tomorrow, I'm sure.
Teddy's birthday was Saturday - AWESOME! I've been looking forward to it for months. I made him the much-touted Tower of Cookies; it was my opus, and it turned out delightfully. Pictures forthcoming. We had a whole lot of fun together, just hanging out.
Another thing we did that day was watch Planet 51. The theater was nearly sold out, and I can see why. The Mars Rover was characterized as a dog (get it? Rover?) and the alien population of the planet keep tiny Queen Aliens as dogs. Oh how I laughed!
Today I worked, but only a few hours. I'm truly loving working at Cabela's. After work Teddy and I hit up the craft show at Lincoln Center, and I got so many hair things at such a good price that you would be repulsed. You'd puke, I swear. SO MANY HAIR FLOWERS, such a great deal!! I have an addiction, I know, but at least it's $3 hair flowers and not $1000 purses.
And tonight, Teddy surprised me. What's the boy doing making me a surprise just a day after his birthday? He made me an advent calendar. Made! With the making! All by himself! I loves it.
Now he's gently snoozing on the couch. I hope to get some cleaning done tomorrow, but also some relaxing, and some projects... and something will go undone, I know, but I have high hopes. Hope your Thanksgivings went well!
