First off let me say that I have the cutest boyfriend ever. Not in physical attractiveness because he's handsome, any man called cute should rethink their appearance. He's been dubbed cute because yesterday he asked me to play a new MMO with him stating that he didn't want to play it unless we played it together. This made me go "AWWWWWWW" and I caved in.
Neo Steam is a game that reminds me quite a bit of Cabal. Cabal for those that don't know is a game hosted by OG planet (the company that hosted Alba 18 till they closed the game and the developers at Ntreev USA took over) It reminds me of that game because of the world development and graphic style. It's also similar in that depending on your class and genus you start out in a different town.
That posed a slight problem when Lauren and I were starting out. We wanted to play together which is rather hard when you can't get to the continent your friend is on till you're level 10. Lauren, of course, chose a lupine character which could only be male (rather annoying if you ask me) and I made a cat girl...which like the problems for lupines could only be female. I'm sure that will change when the game opens up...hopefully.
The creatures you have to defeat, at least so far have been cute things like pigs with a leaf cloak (this is all the things I had to kill, what Lauren ground on I'm not sure) and things that looked like overgrown leamurs. I had to overturn rocks to get beetles which was the most annoying quest ever because it took FOREVER to get to the beetle. I'm a mage...I have a stick...my opponent is a rock under which is a beetle....why does it take forever to get to it?
The cut scenes in the game are wonderfully done and the bgm is decent. It can get annoying after listening to it all the time, but before it gets annoying it's ok. The variety of genus for the game makes it diverse and since both of us can heal, it should be fairly easy to party together and make sure both of us stay alive. Hopefully my squishy little mage (technically I'm a mystic) can stay alive and not constantly have to be revived.
Though a few things amused me...like I was able to add "Wags" as a friend before he figured out how to, I knew how to jump and sit and upgrade my spells before he learned it...all thanks to the wonderful f10 key, which gives you all of those commands. ^^ <3 I guess playing an MMO is like being in a car, women will ask for directions where men want to learn it by sheer accident or luck. The hardest part of this game will be making sure that we don't super outlevel eachother...or that it doesn't become World of Warcrack. Given that both of us have tendencies of obession over games we enjoy it will be interesting to play this with him.
And if this game doesn't work out, we always have Scrabble.
