Hana's Birthday

Jun 20, 2007 16:22

Well, was the girlfriends birthday today. She adored the gift I gave her which was two tickets to see Guys and Dolls in Edinburgh on Saturday. So, we're going up for the day to see the show and spend the day together. She really loved it. I left it on her computer terminal, propped up behind the keyboard as she was busy filling in some online forms; so I wandered off to do some work whilst she finished. Well, she opened them and came bounding across the library with a huge grin on her face. All day I've had people telling me how much she loves the gift and keeps smiling.

In other news, my in-class support class was a nightmare. Some of the kids have real potential but the just don't apply themselves; they're two busy getting others into trouble to focus on the work and do well themselves. A couple of them are really bright kids and it's not fair on them. One girl though, every lesson I'm there for I've found her putting her make-up on during class. And it's not just like putting on some lipgloss, it's full blow foundation, eyeshadow, lipstick, blushers, the works! She had the nerve today, when I threatened to confiscate the make-up from her to say that I'm only telling her off because I don't wear make-up myself. Ugh. Some days I really wonder if I could put up becoming a teacher if I got kids like that... Maybe I'll go into private schools instead.

Oh, and another friend is really irritating me. She pretends to be all quiet and meek when deep down she's manipulative and bitchy. I'm a bit skint right now and didn't buy her a birthday present, a few people did but not everyone could afford/manage to. We have just finished our exams afterall. Well, on her birthday she sent a letter to a very close mutual friend complaining about how no one bought her a gifts and how we didn't throw her a party like we said we would.
For starters, you never, NEVER complain about not getting gifts on birthdays; it's downright rude. My 16th birthday, pretty big one and I took a group of friends to the cinema. I only got a gift from one of them - did I complain and throw a hissy fit and refuse to take them to the cinema with me - No. I was dissapointed sure, but moreso because it turned out one of them didn't even remember the reason we were going was because it was my birthday.
Secondly, we NEVER promised to throw her a birthday party until about three days after she wrote this letter. No one had even mentioned a party until then. So where does she get off just assuming that we're going to throw her a party. Yes, we tend to throw each other birthday parties but we do it in a specific way. For example, I asked someone else to organise my party so Fran and Hana organised a surprise for me. I organised Fran's for her because she was too busy to organise it herself. The only true surprise party we've ever thrown was for Hana's 16th when she thought she was coming to hang out at mine for the day just the two of us when in fact all of our friends were gathered in my living room.
I just can't stand people like this; who pretend to be nice and sweet and innocent but do things like this behind people's backs. It's the fact she lied that I can't stand it; I understand the urge to bitch (I succumb to it frequently) but to lie whilst you do it is a whole other level.

Y'know, I actually sound like the highschool girl that I am when I talk like this. Strange.
