This was beautiful and you don't know how many times I had to try and swallow the great big lump in my throat.
First off though, I absolutely LOVED how you did the dialogue here it just worked so well, as if it has this sense of past and present colliding (which I think is sort of a theme here, past vs present).
The thought of Angel just saying "hi" to her (and everyone) is both heartbreaking, and also gives that schoolboy heir of innocence, I like the juxtaposition of experience vs innocence, which I suppose was always evident between in the start of their relationship, but it's the role reversal of that really makes this story. I think both being able to experience both sides would only make their relationship stronger, knowing what it was like, knowing what you had to do.
But you look familiar
GAH. I always thought that neither of them believed in "true love" or soulmates or anything of the sort before they met each other. So it makes it that much more significant that she's clinging to that soul deep connection that she knew they both had, and always will.

I just adore the whole going back to the beginning thing. Though at the same time it's a fresh start, that they have this deep and complicated history...but they also don't NEED it to know that how they feel for one another is every bit as powerful as it was in the beginning.
Buffy and Angel standing on either side of the bathroom door. Her imagining where his heart would be and placing her hand there. That imagery was beautiful. Them just sleeping together, even if just side by side, is so extremely sexy I can't take it (I could imagine what they must both be thinking about, Angel has amnesia, but he has EYES).
The line about the rent. HA! You go Buffy. FINALLY.
First kiss was so hot, first...everything was so hot. Again. Still.
If I know anything about Buffy, I know that she'd restore his memories (love the vague ending though :). I think he deserves it, where there has been bad, there has also been good, really good times and and I think she knows that if it were her, she wouldn't trade those beautiful memories for anything. She knows that it's his right, and that if he found out that she had a way to restore his memories and she didn't, ok I wouldn't say he wouldn't forgive her, but it'd be bad all around. Plus I'm sure her guilt would eat her up inside regardless.
There are just so many other things that I could say about this fic, but this comment is getting uber long. I loved it and I'm going to have to read it a few million times again *G*
