Reality Check
I follow a group on Facebook composed of students and a few teachers from the school where I taught for the first 15 or so years of my career. The school no longer exists, but it was important in my life, formative in my career. I remember it fondly.
I don't post on the group, just follow the posts from former students to see what they're up to and what their memories are. There are often questions about long lost classmates, and occasionally, about teachers they remember. The latter comments fall into two categories: teachers they remember and hated and teachers they remember and loved.
I'm pleased to report that my name has not be mentioned in the first category.
Nor has it been mentioned in the second.
It hasn't come up at all. Other people from my department, good, bad, and so mediocre that I had forgotten about them, have been mentioned, but not I. Not sure how I feel about that.
