How many people constitute an exodus?

I ask because the number of people getting out of my place of employment is striking. People "retiring" who are way too young to retire. I'd like to believe they just did really wonderful financial planning and can go out early, but I know enough about our salaries and their lives to know that's just not the case. People leaving for "wonderful opportunities" that are clearly a step down, or at best, a lateral move.

I'm hoping to retire myself in 2013, when I'm 62, but these are people in their early fifties. Something's afoot. It's interesting. It doesn't actually worry me. Rather it makes me more comfortable with the idea of retiring. It makes me think of the scripture passage where Jesus sends the disciples out to teach, and tells them to take what it offered to them when they're received and when they're not welcomed, to shake the dust off their feet.
